SUSTAINABILITY POLICY
At Hotel Desértica we are aware of the fragility of the environment in which we are located and the importance of operating as an agent of change, improvement and development of San Pedro de Atacama.
That is why we are committed to operate with high quality standards in search of the satisfaction of our guests, to comply with Chilean regulations in the different areas in which we operate, as well as to develop in a sustainable way based on the following principles:
PRESERVING THE LOCAL CULTURE
We highlight the local heritage and architecture. We take care of our centennial orchard, its native species and maintain the canal system and the traditional flood irrigation.
MINIMIZE WASTE GENERATION AND TREAT WASTES
We have a solid waste and organic waste management plan. We avoid the use of plastic and favor refillable containers.
STIMULATE THE LOCAL ECONOMY
We privilege the hiring of people residing in San Pedro de Atacama and the purchase of products and handicrafts from local suppliers.
TO PROMOTE WATER SAVING AND OPTIMIZATION
We maintain the potable water network and favor the use of low-consumption faucets. For irrigation, we use the traditional flooding system, which is organized by the local community according to the water capacity of the area.
CARE FOR AND EFFICIENT USE OF ENERGY RESOURCES
The electricity in our rooms is generated 100% by solar panels. In addition, we use low-consumption lighting and efficient construction materials for thermal insulation.
FAVORING ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PRODUCTS
Our amenities are organic and biodegradable.
